Today, I am grateful for free time. I am grateful for all the conveniences of modern life that give time back to people, especially to women who still traditionally end up with more housework than their partners. I am grateful for laundry machines and dishwashers, for a quick drive to grocery stores, for several restaurants in the neighborhood where takeouts are readily available when we are really pressed for time (we don't use this option often, but it's nice to have it).
I am grateful for having extra money in our budget to afford cleaners who come to our house every 2 weeks, and for a gardener that keeps our backyard in order. Getting a cleaner was a Christmas present for me many years back, and it's a gift that just keeps giving, because, while both of us like to keep our house orderly and clean, neither of us wants to spend time on washing bath stalls and toilets or vacuuming. It works out well for us to maintain a reasonable degree of order and cleanliness between visits of cleaners with small touch ups and leave the big jobs that require more time to them.
What do we do with all this free time? We make a conscious effort to spend some of it as a family - going places, playing board games, watching TV. Also, all of us have our own hobbies, and I am grateful for free time to pursue mine - blogging, reading, trying new recipes. I am grateful that my daughter is learning to treasure free time and find her own interests. I hope that her life will afford her the same luxury of free time that we enjoy so much and that she learns not to waste her free time when she does have it.

Your Turn

What do you like to do with your free time?

I love to spend time with family and friends and make things in my free time! My kids also really appreciate free time and it was so nice to have entire week of free time last week!

I always feel like I want to do so much with my free time. We like reading, TV shows, games, and in the case of my daughter and I, crafting.
