It was the last full week of school for Smarty. She has three more days next week, and then she is officially out for the summer. She has nailed her final exam in Integrated Mathematics 1 class, and now it's officially over. I hope that we will be able to get it on her transcript!
Smarty's middle school had a pool party on Friday. She had a lot of fun hanging out with her two "male friends" (as she likes to call them). We feel that she grew a lot socially this year, but she still strongly prefers boys to girls. She exchanged emails with her friends, so I hope they will stay in touch over summer and next year.
A Junior Instructor
Smarty loves her taekwondo studio, and she is really interested in becoming a "junior instructor" who helps during practice times. She tried this role out during a birthday party for her "little brother", a son of our best friends (he turned 7). She also attended a special instructor training this week, and might sign up for one "help session" during summer weeks when she is in town.
Places We Are Going
Last weekend, we got together with other members of our local organization for gifted kids for an annual picnic. Now Smarty has several kids in the organization that she enjoys seeing, and she had a great time swimming and then decorating stones with her friends.
What My Child Is Reading
Smarty still spends a lot of time reading. This week she enjoyed a non-fiction book Word by Word by Kory Stamper and a new dystopian fantasy Hunter by Mercedes Lackey.
Happy Birthday to my Mom!
My Mom is turning 70 today! I am sad that we could not be with her for her birthday, but we are going to meet up later in summer and celebrate all big dates at once. Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you very much!
How was your week?
