Why Australia?
In our virtual travels around the world we are following Top Secret Adventures monthly packages that Smarty begged us to subscribe to. We spent a long time in China doing activities from our China Bucket List, and now we are heading to Australia! Here is what’s on the list this time.
Activities in the “choice bucket”
Make a boomerang
- Aboriginal face painting
- Make a didgeridoo
- Throw a boomerang (we happen to have a real Australian boomerang)
- Kangaroo dot painting
- Make a minibook on favorite Australian animals
- Make lamingtons
- Watch The Rescuers Down Under
- Watch Wild Australia
- Learn about Harmony Day
- Hop like a kangaroo listening to The Wiggles
- Bellow like a koala and listen to other animal sounds
Books for elementary school about Australia
Of course, we will be reading books about Australia. Links below are affiliate Amazon links.
Australia Pinterest board I love
In my search of resources on Australia I stumbled upon this great Australia for Kids board by Highland Heritage Homeschool. I will go back there in case I run out of ideas.

Sounds like you have a great tour of Australia planned! I love that you have a real Boomerang.
What fun you will have exploring Australia. I shared this post on the Read.Explore.Learn. Facebook page.
Very cool! I ordered the Top Secret Adventures to try with Reagan and Collin. I hope they like it. Did you get all of these ideas from them, or find them on your own?
Now I'm imagining what would happen if we had a real boomerang in our house....... Probably not good.
Great activity list! I keep trying to sway the girls into doing Australia for a year, but has yet to happen. Pinning this in case it does!
Thank you for linking up at Creative Kids Culture Blog Hop #7.
I want to come to your house! These look so fun! I really love the idea of having kids come up with a bucket list for a unit study. Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday! Looking forward to seeing what you have to share this week!

So fun!! We have done a bit of exploring Australia, but a large part of that is due to my daughter having an Australian penpal (thanks to the blogging world) and they exchange gifts and things all the time. Enjoy!! Thank you for sharing at Sharing Saturday!
