Today, I am thankful for rain and wind finally bringing us relief from smoke and returning our air quality to healthy levels. It's nice to be able to finally see our mountains in the distance and enjoy the smell of wet dirt and grass rather than this acrid smoke smell. This is our first real rain of the season, and I hope that this winter brings more rain and snow to California. Last year, we gave Smarty a day of skiing as one of her Christmas presents, but we could not go on our chosen weekend, because there was very little snow at the skiing resort that we were going to. I hope that this year we will have more luck and that we can go skiing on the first week after New Year.
I am also grateful that I don't have to drive today, on the busiest travel day of the year. Pretty much everyone is working from home. Smarty has a short day in school, and she is looking forward to a day free of homework and any other responsibilities and to a day when she can finally ride a bike or jump in puddles - depending on which way the weather turns in the afternoon. I am grateful to see our late fall finally arrive!
What are you grateful for today?
