It was a busy week in school. Smarty was somewhat thrown off by having her short Wednesday taken away in favor of PSAT test. I think she is going through a growth spurt, because she is more tired and more grumpy again. To be fair, I understand part of her grumpiness - she wants to have more free time, especially on weekends. But she was the one committing herself to 6 hours of taekwondo (a special sparring training and a taekwondo tournament) this Saturday, so now she has to follow through on her commitments. In the meantime, she is just carrying on, doing her homework, and getting good grades despite complaints.
I let Smarty skip Stanford writing circle this Wednesday, because she was absolutely wiped out from her PSAT test, but she stuck with the rest of her after school obligations. She is enjoying her new black belt preparation class in taekwondo and does her best learning a new, far more complex form that she will need to perfect when the time comes for her black belt testing. Luckily, she has quite some months before that happens. We are still adjusting our schedules to accommodate this new time for her taekwondo classes - black belt prep classes take place at 6:30 pm, and this is when we usually had dinner. So now dinner is shifted later and the evenings are more rushed, something that contributes to Smarty's grumpy mood.
What My Child Is Reading
Smarty finally read (and then re-read several times) a new book - Dragon and Thief by Timothy Zahn. I finished The Fault in Our Stars and switched to non-fiction again reading Social Intelligence by Daniel Coleman.
She still loves to climb trees.
How was your week?
