Highlights of the Week

Smarty and I are on our last trip of this summer - visiting my parents in New Jersey. I work from their home while Smarty enjoys being spoiled by grandparents. As part of the "entertainment program", Smarty went to work with my Mom. My Mom works as an office manager for an outpatient surgery center, and Smarty had a tour of a surgery room. It did not change the fact that she has absolutely no desire to be a doctor, but she enjoyed dressing up in scrubs for this tour.

What My Child Is Reading

I am an Amazon associate, and this section contains Amazon affiliate links.
Smarty is loving a library in the town where my parents live. She raced through several books in Amelia Notebooks series by Marissa Moss as well as My Weird School series by Dan Gutman. In this picture, she is reading through The Sentinel, collection of short stories by Arthur C. Clarke.

Favorite Memory of the Week

My Mom's friend is taking painting classes, and she invited Smarty to join her in class. Smarty was delighted to finally try oil painting and paint her first still life on a canvas. She reiterated her desire to take oil painting classes in winter. Unfortunately, she is not interested in any other media, so it might be a bit difficult to find.

Her painting is beautiful! Sounds like a really fun week for her.

I bet you could find a decent online painting class via Craftsy or something like that if you can't find anything local. My mom's dad loved making oil paintings, and I have a couple of them in my home now. Smarty seems to have an eye for it!
