Highlights of the Week

Another month flew by, and we are closer to the end of the school year. Smarty is happy and busy with many school and after school projects. This weekend she was participating in Relay for Life for Cancer Society. She made a poster for this event and raised $120 for her school team.
We had a bit of a setback in our planting and gardening plans, because my husband hurt his back last weekend. He is feeling better now, but planting will have to wait until the first week of May, so he can recover fully. In the meantime, we are just enjoying better weather and looking forward to many weekends of dinners with friends in May.

One of Smarty's projects this month was to learn about benefits of exercise, design a 7 minute workout and make a poster about it. She worked rather hard on this project - now she has to commit to her exercise plan :)

After School

Smarty had her taekwondo belt testing this week - she is about to transition from beginner group with her next belt level, camouflage. She was a little disappointed not to get a perfect 10 score on her belt testing, but she was exhausted on the day of the testing, because they had language state testing that day, and an intense PE test.

What My Child Is Reading

Disclosure: I am an Amazon affiliate, and this post contains Amazon affiliate links. This week Smarty mostly re-read some random books from our home library, but she also branched out into historical fiction by picking up Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Favorite Memory This Week

Smarty begged us to allow her sign up for Leadership program at her taekwondo studio for a while, but we made her wait until she is out of beginner stage and showed commitment. Now we finally signed her up, but we did not tell her, and she got surprised during a belt promotion ceremony when she was called out to receive her leadership uniform. She was so deliriously happy about it. We can only hope she will stick with increased workload of longer practices.

Congrats on doing the leadership in TaeKwanDo.

I remember having to design a workout plan for college, and ours was inspired by elementary school games and was quite silly. I think we laughed the entire time we did it.
