Highlights of the Week
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here - our house is decorated, presents are starting to "magically appear" under the tree and the weather is turning positively chilly. We celebrated my birthday last Saturday with a nice and relaxed day at home, going out to my favorite Japanese restaurant and watching It's a Wonderful Life. Both of us are really looking forward to turning off our work emails on Tuesday night and focusing on enjoying this time of the year.
Smarty only has one week left until her winter break. She beat my low expectations for one of her projects that were due in these last two weeks - she and her partner managed to get their act together, actually collaborated on their project about collaboration and did a pretty good job earning them an A. We will see how things will work out with their second project for writing and social studies about art and architecture of ancient Egypt. In math, she continues to work independently and started Prealgebra 2 class in the Art of Problem Solving. At first she was so-so on the delivery method (it's interactive but only via typing, no video or audio), but she is warming up to it and looking forward to the next class.
Smarty spent most of her free time reading, doing some math practice in Art of Problem Solving, and decorating our Christmas tree. She voted for a silver theme this year - I guess she is getting older and her taste is getting to be a little more sophisticated. She is also diligently practicing for her first belt promotion in taekwondo.
