I cannot deny it - my Smarty is growing up. Gone are the days when she wanted me to entertain her and to offer activities to do together. She has a busy life and a mind of her own on how she wants to spend her free time. And she chooses to spend her time on things that are not really "bloggable" (I know it's not a word, Ms. Spellchecker). She loves to read, play Wii Fit, play Nerf guns with her friends down the street, or pour over the latest animation tutorial from Pixar on Khan Academy.
I know some bloggers manage to keep their older kids engaged by giving them specific tasks and even paying them for "guest posts". Somehow I don't want to go in that direction. Smarty is not really a crafty kid and I don't think that paying her for doing something with her hands would send the right message. So... I think I am going to set my "blogging schedule" aside after this week and blog only when I am inspired to say something or if Smarty decides to engage in some sort of interesting project. I will still keep my favorite feature of the week - the week in review, but I am going to relieving myself of a pressure to come up with other posts on specific dates. We'll see how this works out over summer, and whether my desire to blog rebounds by the next fall.
I am not saying goodbye to the blog. I think I will still keep blogging over summer, just perhaps with less frequency. I hope my loyal readers will stick around to check what's happening on our Planet Smarty Pants.
