Highlights of the Week

Smarty continues to enjoy her special time with Papa in Germany. They are back in Bremen this week, visiting family and sightseeing. In the meantime, I reorganized Smarty's room top to bottom and had some time to catch up with a few things on my to do list. I am quite ready for my family to come back, but I have to wait another couple of days before that happens. While I am waiting, I am also enjoying our first heat wave of the year and beautiful roses all around our neighborhood!

What My Child Is Reading

Disclosure: I am an Amazon affiliate, and this section contains Amazon affiliate links. My husband commented to me that Smarty is an excellent traveler. When she is bored, she simply retreats into her Kindle. She read through 2 first books of The Brotherband Chronicles  by John Flanagan currently available on Kindle from our library, and switched to Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. My husband said it took her about 3 hours - a ride from Cologne to Bremen, to finish this book, and now she is reading from A Tale of Two Castles by the same author.

What a wonderful experience for her to have. Lovely memories, I am sure.

Oh, there are so many wonderful books for her now that she's discovered Gail Carson Levine, she's one of my favorite fractured fairy tale authors. Smarty needs to try Robin McKinley if she hasn't yet.
