Highlights of the Week

We do not celebrate Valentine Day with flowers and chocolate, but Smarty gave us sweet coupons that included "time alone" and "massage without tickles" as well as this art project that she and her classmates did in school.

Presidents' Week School Break

Smarty has this week off. We did not send her to any camp, because we both could work from home on different days, so she was hanging out home with us. She and Papa experimented in making their own chocolate candy mixing and melting different chocolate chips, butter and cream, and their first batch turned out delicious. Now she wants to try again, this time with measuring ingredients and writing down the recipe.

Places We Are Going

Every year since times BC (before child), we were taking a trip in late January or early February to one of our local natural preserves to take pictures next to a big flowering mimosa tree. We kept this tradition again this year, and Smarty was taking her own pictures this time. It was a gorgeous day, and she ended up with some great photos for her next slide show.

What My Child Is Reading

Disclosure: I am an Amazon affiliate, and this post contains Amazon affiliate links. I was trying to get Smarty interested in The Wrinkle in Time this week, but she was not interested, Instead, she immersed herself in comics and rereads of her favorite stories on her Kindle. I am sure that while she finally gets into The Wrinkle Quartet, she will declare it "the best book ever", but the time has to be just right for that :)

Best Memory of the Week

Smarty to me: You are doing such a good job being my Mom. I am going to give you a raise in hugs and kisses.

That art project is really cool.

And massages without tickles sounds pretty amazing to me.
