We love seasonal decorations in our house. We made many of them over years as a family, and now our almost 9 year old is old enough to do some on her own. These crafts are perfect for after school times when children want to unwind with an art project.

Perler Beads

Perler Beads are about the only craft material that Smarty uses pretty consistently. She is never interested in using someone else’s templates preferring to invent her own. She worked very patiently on this Boo sign for our door. Frugal Fun 4 Boys has several cure Halloween perler beads patterns in case your kids need more guidance or inspiration.

Paper Ghosts

Ghosts-Window
It’s our tradition to decorate with paper ghosts for Halloween. My husband printed several ghost outlines, and Smarty cut them out and drew faces on them. Then she arranged them “in swirling patterns” on our kitchen window. We also have smaller paper ghosts hanging off in our living room.

Air Dry Clay Halloween Decorations

Air-Dry-Clay
My daughter also loves making things out of air dry clay. We made a big batch for our seasonal tree together 2 years ago, and now she is adding a little at a time to our collection of air dry decorations. They look pretty good when painted with acrylic paints!
