Highlights of the Week
- The weather was beautiful, and we spent a lot of time outside
- After 2 weeks of fighting a cold, I am starting to feel like myself again.
- I tried a couple of new crockpot dishes that everyone liked – yay!
- We tested our new tent for our first camping trip of the year in late April.
Smarty readjusted to the daylight savings and being home. They have a theme of habitats and nature adaptations in school, and she really enjoys it. Every day she tells me stories about rainforest, desert, tundra, etc. It’s great to see her actually learning some new things in school and enjoying it so much. She also loves her choir program. Her singing certainly got better with choir practice, and she likes an opportunity to perform in front of an audience. This week they performed in an Alzheimer facility, and I loved watching Smarty interacting with the residents and giving them hugs.
After SchoolSomehow this week was ripe with play dates – Smarty got to spend 1:1 time with all her best friends. It always cracks me up to hear Smarty and her best girl friend A play a mother-daughter game. Smarty plays a bossy Mom, and her friend plays a very disobedient daughter. Perhaps Smarty might appreciate better how I feel when she disobeys me :) We also got out to play tennis twice. I don’t see Smarty playing competitively any time soon (or ever), but she is slowly improving, and I am hoping to keep up with these twice-a-week practice and once-a-week lesson schedule.
What My Child Is Reading
Amazon Affiliate Links here… Let’s see… Assorted magazines, Warriors books from two different sets, and she also got Catwings by Ursula K. Le Guin from the school library. I love Catwings!
Favorite Memory of the Week
Smarty: We have a basketball unit in PE. I don’t like it, because I am terrible at basketball. But today I got to even touch the ball for the first time. I might have even made the basket if they let me close to it!
