Back from Alaska

On Sunday my husband and I came back from our Alaska vacation. We took a cruise from Seattle up to Juneau, Skageway, Glacier Bay, Ketchikan, and Victoria, BC. The trip was amazing, and we came back refreshed and ready to tackle the second half of the year. We’ve seen bald eagles, whales, and a lot of white and green – snow on mountain tops and glaciers, lush greenery everywhere else. It’s truly an amazing place, and we are thinking of coming back again in a few years, this time with our daughter.

Back from New Jersey

While we were in Alaska, our daughter flew cross-country on her own for the very first time and spent a week at grandparents’. She enjoyed their community pool set in an artificial lake, shopping for new clothes and shoes, her first ever manicure and pedicure, and overall being spoiled rotten. She came back tanned, happy, and about 3 pounds heavier. She reported that Babushka didn’t know when to stop feeding her.

Papa’s Birthday

Lego Present

Smarty came back just in time for her Papa’s birthday. He got a Lego train, mostly because it came with rails and a remote control system. Smarty was very pleased with Papa’s present, and they have set it up the very next day. Papa was pleased too – he loves Lego, and he is already planning on building his own train station and a cargo station.

4th of July

Independence Day

I am writing this post on Thursday, but 4th of July is a big day on our street when we have a street party. An amazing number of people choose to stay in town and celebrate with neighbors rather than go someplace else. Smarty is eagerly looking forward to this day which includes water slides, contests, arts, crafts, food, dancing, and, of course, fireworks. And once the day is gone, she starts wishing for the next 4th of July.

Favorite Memory of the Week

Me, entering Smarty’s room and discovering a ripped up box from a new puzzle and puzzle pieces all over the room: What is that??? Have you stopped to think about what you are doing???

Smarty: Don’t get annoyed, Mama. Papa already got annoyed enough for the both of you.

Most Popular Post and Pin

As expected, my most popular post in the last couple of weeks was 12 Amazing Engineering Projects for Kids. It also has a giveaway to go with it. A lot of traffic to it was driven by this pin from For the Girls board that was repinned more than a thousand times.

My in-laws have taken the Alaska cruise, and also enjoyed it very much. Hope you're 4th turned out as good as last year's - the neighborhood celebration sounds like a lot of fun!

My in-laws took that cruise too, and raved about it. Now Jeff wants to do it sometime.

You have some of the best neighborhood celebrations, sadly our neighborhood doesn't do them as much as they used to.
