Vacation for adults. Yet again this year we left Anna with my parents in New Jersey and departed from New York for one week cruise to Bermuda. The trip was very relaxing, with a lot of time to read, talk and refresh ourselves in preparation for another school and work year. Hopefully we can do it again, but next year we’ll look for a smaller ships and perhaps a different itinerary, especially if we can convince our daughter to fly to New Jersey on her own.

Vacation for Anna (and grandparents). My parents loved having Anna all to themselves. They spent a week going to the pool, playing, and doing activities that we call, what happens at grandparents’ stays at grandparents’. Anna certainly loved all the extra attention, different toys, a big set of modeling clay, and access to an excellent library in the town where my parents live.

Places we are going. It already became a tradition that Anna and grandparents come to pick us up in New York after our cruise, and we go to a museum. Anna was disappointed that this year we had our mind set on going to Metropolitan Museum of Art and lasted only about 2 hours there. Still, she had fun looking at artifacts from the cultures she learned about in the Story of the World – she was especially interested in sculptures and stone carvings from Assyria and Babylon.

Yesterday we came back, and now I am back at work, and Anna has the last free week before she starts  the second grade. When does your school year start?

We, as in my family, not Texas, officially started yesterday. I'm reading this while taking a break in the middle of the day before finishing up.

Now I want to go to that museum.......

Vacations are nice. We are about to head into ours. BTW...we still don't have a postcard for New Jersey. I wonder if your relatives would be willing to send us one?

We hope to start next week - but then we'll have a slow down as my folks arrive for a two week visit the very next week. We could delay and start after they leave, but all the books are ready and calling. I imagine Anna is excited to get back to school, too.

I'm so glad you had a great vacation. We honeymooned in Bermuda and thought it was a relaxing island. The kids start school the week after next. I'm having mixed feelings. It's been such a great summer with them, yet it's time to get back to a routine.

It must have been nice to have time to yourself with your husband! We went on an anniversary trip and K wanted to be in the middle of everything. Not what you call a vacation but we still had fun.

Your parents seem so sweet. Your dad looks like of like Picasso.

Today was our official day to start via our charter but we had art camp and she played with friends at the park all day. I'm not sure if we can count that but we are sure not ready to begin work!

Welcome home! I loved "what happens at grandparents' stays at grandparents'" - so funny! That looks like a HUGE cruise ship! I'm glad you had a relaxing trip.
