In our lives… It was a weird week in the house. Last week Anna read a book in Y camp that spooked her, and since then she was not her normal cheerful self. She was acting tired and distracted all week, and finally we realized that she is also running a fever. She is getting more rest now, and hopefully she will be able to shake off this bug in time for her visit to grandparents in New Jersey.

Summer learning. Anna asked for a lot of math this week – she says it takes her mind away from “spooky stories”. She picked this “enrichment math” for 4th grade (!) in the library and was doing randomly some problems out of it. The scary part was that she was able to do a fair number of them. I guess we will need to have a talk with school on how to keep her engaged with math for second grade.

Places we are going. This week Anna stayed at home and went to swim classes. We expected to spend more time in the pool but she wasn’t into it this week, probably due to not feeling well. She also had a great playdate on Monday with her best friend, went to a juggling show in the library with Papa on Tuesday and shopped with me to fill a backpack for The Family Giving Tree “Back to School Drive”.

More pictures – I finally figured out Picasa collages!

  • 1 – Packing “The Giving Tree” backpack
  • 2 – Swim class
  • 3 – Practicing ping pong
  • 4 – Building with Simple Machines

I hope Anna feels better soon!

How do you (and Anna) like Simple Machines? I was thinking of buying it a few weeks back, but couldn't commit to the price. I still might in the future, though...

I am so sorry that Anna had a difficult week...with the scary story and the fever (I wonder if they were related). The photos are wonderful. That is amazing about her math skills. Wow.

Poor Anna! I've never completely gotten over the Edgar Allan Poe I read in high school, so I sympathize. But to have a fever too - that's really not fair.

That first photo of Anna looks so dreamy! I'm sorry she had a fever. Recently Jane had a high fever and was extra sleepy. When the fever went away she got a rash. We figured out it was Roseola. I wonder if Anna had the same thing? I hope she's better now!

I still remember being scared out of my mind by a few books as a kid, so I quite sympathize.
