I just love Anna’s summer camp program. She goes to the same Y location as during the year and mostly interacts with the same staff, so she gets stability that she likes. At the same time, they do a lot of fun and new things during the summer – swimming, inside and outside games, weekly field trips, art and special surprises on Fridays. This week it was a traveling petting zoo. June28_PZoo4It arrived rather late in the day, and I came to pick Anna up just as the kids came outside to interact with the animals. Anna and her Y friends had a blast touching and petting – these poor guys must be pretty sturdy to withstand so much love. I feel very happy that we can rely on this program to get Anna a little bit out of her books and into a real world. I also like it that she gets to interact with kids of different ages and with several special needs kids  who come June28_PZoo3to the program during the breaks. She is learning a lot from older kids and Y counselors, and I am hoping that we can use this program for another few years before looking for other options for summer break.

While waiting for my children at swimming lessons this summer, I've been watching children from the local day camps unloading from buses to troupe into the pool - they seem very happy.

My kids would happily live at a petting zoo if they could. I agree those animals are incredibly patient.

We so want to go back to the farm we visited a while back. Those animals are just too adorable to not love on.

What an incredible experience to be able to touch and learn about all those animals. I can tell Anna was thrilled!
