School: School is wrapping up. Kindergarten portion of Anna’s combo class had a graduation ceremony on Friday, and they will spend the last week of school as first graders. Anna and other first graders wrote touching essays about their kindergarten buddies and wrote them to an enthusiastic audience of parents and other relatives.

Afterschool. Our daughter is absolutely obsessed with computers (well, maybe it’s in her genes). Unfortunately for her, we limit her time to 30 minutes a day, and she can earn some more by applying her energies elsewhere. She expressed desire to get Dreambox back, and I think we are going to sign her up again. She is working through the end of 2nd grade tasks in her trial subscription.

Places we are going. I flew to New Jersey on Friday night as a surprise birthday gift to my Mom who was celebrating her 65th birthday. It was great to see my parents and spend a few days with them. Anna stayed home with papa and enjoyed a weekend of playdates and sailing on San Francisco Bay. It was a bit choppy on the way back, so I am not so sure she will be up for another sailing trip anytime soon.

Your mother is so young! What fun to be able to surprise her with a visit for her birthday.

I love that Anna and her fellow first graders wrote about the kindergartners! I would love to get Johnny in a mixed-age class this fall like Anna's - I think he would do well in that setting.

Happy birthday to your mom - what a great birthday gift you gave her!

Will her second grade be a mixed grade class, as well? I think that sounds so interesting!

I love the photo of you and your beautiful mother. It's lovely that you were able to spend some time with her.

I really, REALLY need to limit Robbie's computer time. He's addicted. I probably need to wean him slowly, to minimize withdrawal symptoms (such as tantrums, pouting and the like).

I think about limiting the kids computer time (mainly the boys), but since it's not everyday, I haven't done so yet......

Not that I'm a good example at all.
