In our lives… We survived another week without papa. Anna stayed healthy, and I was able to attend a very important workshop. The sign of Anna’s health returning to normal is that she is enjoying school again. I convinced her to try chess afterschool club offered during this school period, and she came back very excited after her first lesson and announced that she loves chess.

Afterschool. We are learning quite a bit about Roman Empire and one of the nights we had a mini Roman feast. I didn’t cook anything and had finger foods only, since Romans didn’t use forks. I drew the line on reclining – Anna was already quite happy with unusual eating arrangements and variety of foods she could try. We also discussed ideas for a scrapbook page with the topic R is for Rome, but we didn’t get to execution yet.

Places we are going. Last weekend we had our Follow Your Dreams Day and spent most of it in the park despite freezing temperatures. Anna also had a very long play date on Tuesday with her best friend – I needed to go out for dinner with my coworkers, and his Mom volunteered to keep Anna until I could come and pick her up. And I could finally arrange a playdate with another of her school friends – the girls really had a blast playing together and trying all kinds of creative ideas with Anna’s blocks.

Quote of the week: Mama, why do you make me do non-fun things like making Valentine cards? I want to do fun things like cleaning the bathroom! And please-please add it to my chore list!

Glad everyone is feel better again. Little J loves to play chess. I wish we had an after school club. Her quotes are seriously the best.

I'm glad you got through the week OK. I would love for someone to take over the bathroom cleaning! :)

Normally I would disagree with Anna about cleaning bathrooms being fun - but when compared with filling out Valentine cards for a entire class full of kids...she might have a point :)

Reagan loves to clean! She would definitely agree with Anna!

I love the picture of Anna cleaning the bathroom, and the idea that she finds it more fun then filling out Valentines.

My kids think the weirdest things are fun too, and cleaning the bathrooms would be one of those.

LOVE that she thinks cleaning is more fun than making Valentines. That is super funny!

Emma enjoys chess, and would probably enjoy a chess club as well.
