In our lives… Halloween is a big deal here, especially since it comes so close after Anna’s birthday. She wanted to be a ghost this year for Halloween itself and a witch for Halloween parties. Both costumes were made by papa who has considerable sewing talents. She had a blast trick-or-treating, and we’ve been out until her basket got too heavy for her to carry.

Even though Anna really loved travel, she missed school and was very happy to go back. She also had her first Destination Imagination session – this is a program that her school participates in. She didn’t say much, but it sounds fun, and I hope she’ll enjoy it.

What’s new? I’ve been extremely busy at work – basically, I have 3 full time jobs now with no clear end in sight. I’ve been working long hours, but was making a point to be home by 7 pm to spend some time with her in the evening. Papa gave her a very, shall we say, drastic haircut – her teacher even asked her if she cut her own hair. This week Anna is off school again – she and papa flew yesterday to Florida to meet her German uncle and aunt.

  • Quote of the week.
  • Anna: Mama, I don’t want you to die. I want you to be with me forever.
  • Me: For once, I don’t plan to die any time soon. Besides, there might be an afterlife. Many people believe in it.
  • Anna: Well, afterlife sounds too magical to be true. I don’t believe in magic. So let’s just live forever.

I'm sorry that work is keeping you so busy. I love that she went on the road trip, so much hands on learning and experiences goes on then. We enjoyed talking our daughter to CA last fall, it's a time I'll never forget.

Cute costume! My mom worked a lot when I was young and I still have wonderful memories of fun times with I hope you don't worry that you're not making memories with Anna.

Your work situation sounds extremely challenging. Mike seems to just get more and more work, as well. I wonder if or when it will end.

You have me very curious to see some photos of this drastic haircut!

I am sorry work is such a heavy load for you right now. I am curious about the hair cut as well.

I hope you can find some time to rest while Anna and Papa are in Florida.

Sorry to hear work is so busy right now! I know how that goes and it's not fun. Destination Imagination sounds a lot like Odyssey of the Mind, which C is doing this year. I hope she enjoys it.

Ugh to working so much, and double ugh.

I had to laugh that an afterlife seems too magical, but eternal life isn't.
