Dec10_ChristmasVillage

Christmas season is starting early this year due to early Thanksgiving. It’s also the first year in the last few years when I won’t be flying to our big conference in Europe. I was supposed to, but today I am starting treatment for the chronic condition I had for a long time. This condition (Hep C) is affecting my liver more than I and my doctor find acceptable, and he said that I couldn’t “wait for better drugs” any longer. It’s going to be a wild ride, since existing drugs have so many side effects. I negotiated with my boss a reprieve from December travels, since I have no idea how my body is going to react to all this.

Christmas NotesWhile I am looking to the treatment with certain dread, I am still hoping for a good holiday season. Advent calendars is one of our cherished traditions. I use plural here, since we have several. Every year Opa sends a commercial chocolate one from Germany, then we have a Playmobil Advent calendar (more toys!) and a homemade chocolate one. In addition, Anna really likes an online advent calendar at Activity Village (not up yet for this year). They also have a fun “lunch notes printable” – some of it we will use “as is” and I also changed blank pages a bit to add some of our own activities. How much we will actually do depends a lot on my energy level, so I am putting a lot of game playing, Christmas reading and movie watching on our list. I hope our Christmas season will be jolly, and I wish the same to you and yours!

I'm sorry about the treatment you need to go through. I hope it helps. It's great you will get a break from travel and your holiday season sounds fun and relaxing. Big hugs to you!

I hope the treatment goes well and the side effects aren't too bad! Keep us posted
. Thanks for the links.

Collin always gets a Lego advent calendar and this year Reagan is getting Playmobil. We'll probably get chocolate too, but how cool that Anna gets one from Germany.

I hope the treatment goes well, without too many side effects. Hep C can be very challenging. I'm glad your boss agreed to a reprieve from December travels.

I hope the treatment isn't too bad.

We're horrid at keeping up with Advent calendars, but I love all of the little boxes or envelopes in them.

Well, drugs with side effects don't sound like much fun - let's hope they at least help with the problem, as well.

I had to go back and find your post from this week, because I apparently missed it completely. That, or I managed to not comment on it after reading, which is a huge oversight on my part.

I'm sorry you've been having this ongoing condition, I'm glad you were able to arrange a reprieve on your travels.
