In our lives… It was the last week of vacation for Anna and the first week back to work for us. She is still on summer schedule going to bed rather late and sleeping in. In New Jersey she had the first unpleasant encounter with head lice (where she got it is still a mystery), but, thankfully, infestation was caught early by my parents and things are under control now, but it takes a good hour to comb her hair every day. She is being a good sport about it as long as she is allowed to read during this process.

What we are doing… We didn’t do any projects this week and just went with the flow. Anna spent hours every day reading – this is her absolute favorite thing to do. She is also a lot more active physically and getting somewhat taller and stronger. She loves climbing and was happy to go back to our local park, community pool and her gymnastics class.

Places we are going… Anna was happy to reunite with her best friend and had two playdates with him. These kids certainly know how to play – the room looked like a toy bomb has exploded there. We also went to get a haircut, to buy a birthday present and to shop for school supplies. On my last day at home I took her to a Japanese restaurant – Anna is a huge fan of sushi and says she would be happy to eat them every day if she could.

Quote of the week:

I am going to start a club this year. It’s going to be a recycling club. We will do the same thing that other clubs do, but on Wednesdays we will be looking for things to recycle and putting them into recycling bins. Then we will think of the ways to save energy and water. I really want Earth to be still beautiful when I grow up and have my own children.

That last picture is absolutely stunning! We like sushi, too! Sounds like you guys are ready for school! I loved to read at her age, too.

Lice! Ugh! The kids got lice last year, it was so annoying!

I love your pictures this week, and agree with Phyllis that that last photo is especially stunning!

Anna's quote is beautiful.

We still have a week and a half of vacation, and then all three "big" kids are going to school.

I have to agree with the others - these are great pictures this week. And I love her quote. Our elementary school actually has a recycling club. Maybe she should start one at her school! ;-)

If she went to a children's museum she could have gotten it from hats there. I've heard that's not an uncommon way to get them........

I amused the heck out of some kids in junior high by reading through a shot everyone at school had to get because of some outbreak (for the life of me I don't know what it was).
