I haven’t been doing much reading with Anna this week, since I was in all day meetings and came home very late every day. On Monday we finished reading the last book of Mrs Piggle Wiggle and I am looking for a new series to read together.

Abiyoyo

On one day when I came home a few minutes before Anna’s bedtime she insisted on reading Abiyoyo to me. She rarely wants to read aloud to us, since her silent reading is much faster. I was curious to see what the book is about, since Anna insisted on buying it from the library used book corner with her own money. It’s fun for me to see that my apprehensive daughter evolved to reading stories with a fair amount of suspense. Perhaps it’s time to start reading fairy tales :)

Alby and the Cat

Julie from Just Playing Around sent us two Alby and the Cat books by Leanne Davidson about a year ago. They were sitting on my book shelf untouched until this week when Anna suddenly decided that she wants to read them. She really enjoyed the stories, told me a little bit about the story line and asked me to get another Alby and the Cat book in the library, but as far as I know there are only two of them written so far.

It's so fun to see their interests evolve as they grow up!

I vaguely remember Abiyoyo being a featured book on Between the Lions, but that's all I really remember.

What type of series? Early chapter? We're going to read Borrowers for our next read aloud series, but I don't know how Anna would like it.

I have a version of Abiyoyo read by James Earl Jones. It is fabulous! I totally love listening to him read and sing Abiyoyo . . . Abiyoy . . .

I'm obviously way behind in my blog reading but I wanted to say I'm glad she enjoyed the Alby and the Cat books!
