School. Anna was very excited this week. Her class was selected to participate in a program to pilot the use of iPads in elementary school education. Their classroom is going to get 25 iPads next week. Their teacher already showed them some apps on her own iPad, and she can’t wait to lay her hands on “her own” iPad (no, she won’t be allowed to take it home).

Afterschool. The weather was better this week, and we enjoyed time outside after school whenever we could. As always the week was busy – library on Monday, a play date on Tuesday, Russian lesson on Wednesday, gymnastics on Thursday… I am also trying to start Anna back on her writing journal and asking her to write one sentence a day. I even offered her to dictate it to me. Interestingly, as usual, it’s getting started that intimidates her. Once she starts going, she wants to write everything herself, but her neatness usually plummets after the first sentence.

Places we are going… I love this picture taken by Anna. She said that it looks like a forest, but it was really a plant in the neighborhood. We go on photo walks sometimes when she uses my camera to photograph something that catches her eye – usually plants. I still think of making some sort of a book with her photos – one day!

I loved to see what other bloggers contributed last week to Afterschool blog hop. There are so many wonderful ideas! My favorites were:

I love Anna's "forest"!

My sister gets an ipad at her high school in Florida. I could definitely see it being a neat learning tool in elementary school!

I thought the picture was of a forest, until I read your caption - very nice!

Anna took a very interesting picture! We have iPads in the school system now and the kids love them.

I'm not entirely convinced that ipads are really that useful for such young children (and my reasons have nothing to do with being old-fashioned), but I have no doubt the kids will love them.

I love Anna's picture, I too thought it looked like a forest.

That is so exciting for Anna's class to contribute to such a wonderful pilot program.
