School. Anna was very excited to start school on Tuesday even though all of us had a hard time starting our days early again. She was happy that they had a music class on the first day, and an “Art Vista” program (led by parent volunteers) on Friday where they learned to make clay animals. She also was excited to get “Outstanding” in behavior one day this week – this is the first time ever she got to “Outstanding” which is not given lightly by her teacher. She asked to celebrate by eating part of that giant chocolate Santa in the picture. Unfortunately, she missed one day of school already – I was asked to pick her up on Wednesday because she was throwing up, and we held her back home on Thursday to stay safe. Luckily, she got back to normal after sleeping for 18 hours straight from Wednesday late afternoon to Thursday morning.
Afterschool. Somehow we didn’t do much this week (or so it feels). Anna had a playdate one night (mostly they were racing their hex bugs in a maze), then she was sick, then we had a library night where we usually spend at least an hour. On Friday we played a couple of games of checkers and cooked together. Anna loves to cook and can be a great helper if she is in a good mood and wanting to help.
Places we are going. We had our first field trip of the year on Saturday – to San Francisco Zoo. I will write a separate post on it, but the weather was perfect for a trip, and we let Anna be in charge this time and decide where she wants to go. Not surprisingly, her main objective was Children’s Zoo where she got to brush and feed farm animals.
