July has flown by with an amazing speed. I was pretty busy at work for most of the month, the last week was the first time when I was able to catch my breath a little. We enjoyed visiting our community pool as often as we could. Anna has come a very long way from not wanting to put her head in the water even for a moment. She is now diving, swimming under water and on the verge of swimming on her own. We also went on weekend trips and visited some of the most beautiful places around us – Monterey Bay, Santa Cruz beaches and redwood forests of the Big Basin. Anna stayed healthy and happy, and she was enjoying her summer camp.
August will be a month of big transitions for us. Today is the very last time my daughter goes to her preschool, and it’s very bittersweet. On Wednesday the two of us are flying to New Jersey – Anna cannot wait to see her grandparents. When we are back home, there will be a few days of “staycation” and then… off to Kindergarten she goes. Our new school year starts on August 22.
I am a little nervous about all the travel, the changes, the big plans for August. I hope we will all have fun, and that daughter will enter her kindergarten class with less anxiety that she is displaying now. She is worried that “the teachers will make me work a lot and I will miss my preschool friends”. I hope that we will get to meet both the teachers and her new friends in the last week before K, so she can get to know them better.
