Anna is 4 years old

It was a week that started with Anna’s birthday party. She had a blast and absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. Then next day we had the biggest meltdown in recorded history over nothing. I guess all the excitement finally caught up with her. Luckily, crankiness blew over, and she is back to being her mellow self again. Anna was very busy with her presents to have any desire for structured activities, so we spent time playing inside and outside. Her theme in school was letter C and Halloween. As can be expected, she did a lot of cute crafts there, so we did almost nothing at all for Halloween at home this year (except reading books, of course).

Another exciting thing that happened this week is that we flipped Anna’s IKEA bed, and now she sleeps in the bunk upstairs. She is very excited about it and her sleeping habits didn’t change at all. She has everything she needs if she wakes up in the middle of the night – a light within reach and a water bottle. She doesn’t have a habit of roaming the house in the night, so she is nice and cozy in this new setup, and we finally have more space in her room!Oct26_Playdoh

One of Anna’s many presents was Playdoh Cake Making Station. I didn’t see it in action yet, since Anna opened it with her papa, but apparently she really enjoyed making all kinds of sweet creations. My husband said that he would have designed this set differently, but apparently it was good enough for a 4 year old user :) We didn’t have other arts or crafts this week except Australian animals game for geography. Anna still colors more animals on her Australian map every night.

Happy Birthday Anna!! Love her bunk bed! JC would love one but she'll want us in there and that's not going to happen! Glad she had a blast on her birthday!

Happy Birthday to Anna! I love that photo of her on the huge Birthday throne =)

I'm tempted to get that bunk bed, and to let Emma sleep on the top and Lily on the bottom (once she is out of her crib, of course). The rooms in our house are very small, and I feel like the beds take up all the space!

I'm glad Anna's meltdown was saved until after her party =)

I love Anna's bed!

My kids always have meltdowns after great excitement. We have a jam packed weekend with a halloween dance, Boo at the Zoo, and trick or treating so I'm expecting at least one meltdown.

That play dough set sounds like something my kids would like too.

Wow, look at that cake! Selena announced it is her surprise birthday cake. We loved our bunk beds when the older children were younger.

Bless Anna's heart over her meltdown, but I am so glad she enjoyed her party!! She looks precious in that big chair with her cake.

Her bed looks so cool, and that play-doh station looks like something we would enjoy here.

We've been debating about getting that bed versus another. It looks like so much fun, and Princess claims she wants to sleep on the top bunk.

We'll see.

I've never taken the plunge on play-doh sets. I keep thinking about it, but haven't followed through.

We have the same bed! Haven't flipped it yet. Maybe when baby #2 is older. In fact, we haven't even added the bottom slats yet, so he sort of sleeps in a mattress on the floor within the frame. I keep trying to convince my husband to add the slats on.

So cool that Anna gets to sleep on top now! I didn't realize she had this bed. I've been in love with that since I first saw it in Ikea years ago. If we didn't have to have a "real" bunk bed to sleep two kids, I'd love to have this one. Looks like Anna had a fun birthday week!

Happy birthday to Anna. I've never seen the bed before, looks so cool.
We don't have any playdough sets. We just use cookie cutters for playdough play. Though I think a cake maker set would be cute and get lots of play time.
