Sep7_BraidDuring drop off to preschool today I overheard Anna (3 years 10 months old) talking to her least favorite teacher:

  • Anna: I grew taller! I grew one inch overnight! (wishful thinking)
  • Ms C: But you are not allowed to grow up!
  • Anna (confused): But I really want to grow up!
  • Ms C: No, you mustn’t grow up. You can stay here and be a Brown Bear forever.
  • Anna: No, thanks! I want to grow up, so I can get out of here as fast as I can.

Come and share your children pearls of wisdom at Tiny Talk Tuesday hosted at Not Before 7.

Oh my! Don't you love how direct children are?!?
My daughter is the opposite, when we exclaim over the fact that she has got taller (in the last week yet again) she always tells us no, she wants to be little :-)
I think Anna has already outgrown the Brown Bears in every way possible.

Oh man that poor teacher, how'd she respond?

My kids go back and forth on wanting to grow up. I keep teasing them I'm going to put bricks on their heads to keep them from growing up, but they don't take me seriously.

I love it!! Thank you for the laugh. :) I considered posting one of our funniest of the week, but since it involves pooping, I refrained. I'll share here, though. It's a long story, but the short version is that he said he was pooping (in a restaurant), when we didn't have any wipes or diapers handy. After much debating about how to handle the situation, I headed to the bathroom with him, and he even walked all funny and made me carry him. When we got there, his diaper was empty. When I asked him what happened, he said, "I did PRETEND poos, Mama!"

Wow! It doesn't sound like that's her favorite place - poor teacher.

This is so funny! I can almost see Anna having this conversation with this teacher. I am with Leah, I don't think Anna is real thrilled with this place, or at least as you say with this teacher.

So funny! My mom teaches kindergarten, and B asked when he could go. When I told him he had to be 5, he said, "but I'm close!" (He's 4 yrs 3 mos). But in the same conversation he said he though I was something like 16... so much for concept of age.
