monthly goals at mama smiles

Aug24_GGB3

We had a good August, but I didn’t do as well on my goals as I hoped. I didn’t lose any weight (at least I didn’t gain any!), and we still didn’t start our landscaping project – ugh! But we enjoyed our staycation, we spent time in the pool and overall had a wonderful summer that seems to just have flown by so quickly.

September will be a very different month for us. For the first time ever we will be in three different places for the better part of the month. Anna will be visiting her grandparents in New Jersey while my husband visits his family in Germany. While they are gone, I do have a few plans of my own (of course, I will also work as usual, and maybe even put in a few extra hours :)):

  1. 1. Instead of doing our landscaping project, we decided to take advantage of being between season and upgrade our A/C and heater. We plan to have all organization done this week and next week, and then the job will be completed by the time the family comes back.
  2. 2. Bringing our 2010 photo album up to date. It’s going to be quite a task considering that we haven’t even started on it yet.
  3. 3. Losing those 2 pounds I didn’t lose in August. Not having to eat kid leftovers in addition to my own meals should help.
  4. 4. Cleaning as much of our garage as I can while my husband is gone. There are certain things where our views of whether to keep or toss them differ. I am a minimalist, my husband is a hoarder. Guess, who is going to win now?
  5. 5. Seeing a movie (or two, or three), reading a couple of books, going out with friends and looking forward to having my family back.

Come over and share your goals at Mama Smiles.

Wow, time to yourself! I bet it will go by quickly, but I hope you enjoy it. You will love having your family back. I've never spent 1 night away from my son, so I can only imagine what I'd do! The movies sound great. :)

How wonderful! I don't think I would know what to do if I were left alone...or maybe I will enjoy it too much. Enjoy your break!

I'm getting some time to myself later this month too. But my time will only be for a night, but still.

Enjoy your "You" time. How wonderful! And enjoy emptying the garage! My hubby and I have that same issue - I got rid of tons of things for the move here and he sneaked a lot of it back in while I was away traveling with Crumpet at the last minute!!

I haven't updated our family albums since 2008. Not sure when I'll catch up, either...

Great goals, and I hope you enjoy your time to yourself!

ACK! I am sympathizing with your husband right now. My husband is the minimalist; I am the hoarder (not quite a hoarder, but I like to keep things). My husband is always throwing things away, so I have to find good hiding spots for things! Crazy, I know. He also hates my piles of papers, piles of books - I have a pile problem. I know where everything is until he moves my piles!

Enjoy your time to yourself.

I love reading your goals.

I am a minimalist wannabee. Failing at it:) Our lack of closet space here keeps me in check though. But like Christy, I have a pile problem on my desk. Enjoy your alone time. Some days I could really do with some and daydream endlessly of sending Bear to school:)

Time to yourself! That is great. I get time to myself this month as well, though it will be one night away, but I am really looking forward to it.

My husband is also a hoarder, not a good thing in a small apt, so I "make" him keep all his stuff in the basement, where at least I cannot see it! He doesn't mind, actually, which is good. Enjoy your September!

I hope Anna and your husband enjoy their visits, and that you enjoy your time alone, and that it is both fun and productive for you!

I slacked on exercise the better part of the summer due to staying up way too late at night and it being so stinking hot outside. Determined to do better now. I also have about 2 pounds to lose from ice cream the last month:-). I'd kicked it for so long, but those darn banana split pops I made got me wanting it again. I'll do it though!!
