preschool corner

Anna is 3 years 8 months old

July13_Felt2I am pleased with how our July is going so far. Anna spends a lot of time playing, swimming and reading. She seems happier in her camp too, and I am glad that we won’t have to deal with new classroom and new teachers in September, since the same teachers will become her preK teachers then. I managed to accomplish two of my goals for July this week – having a garage sale and going sailing. July12_Reading

Reading. This is very typical of Anna – she can start reading anywhere if she sees a new book. I encourage her to retell her favorite stories and to come up with her own ideas, and she can never get enough of new books even though she also has about 30 books from her own library out at any given time.

July13_DoodlesArts, Crafts and Fine Motor Skills. I decided to completely follow Anna lead for now when it comes to writing. I gathered courage and put a pencil and a notebook in her room. From time to time Anna uses drawings in her pretend play – usually she draws X-rays and “writes” prescriptions when she plays doctor. And this is the first picture where she drew people to scale – of course, it’s me and her :)

July12_Swimming Playing. We are trying to get to the pool as much as possible. Anna loves water and now insists on taking shower every night – she used to be afraid of it. At home she plays with felt a lot, builds with her Wedgits and practices the life of the office worker. She seems to think that I eat in the office non-stop, because her idea of office life involves a lot of “having lunch with coworkers”.

Come and share your weeks in Preschool Corner at Homeschool Creations.

So basically, she just moved her picnic play, into the corporate world. I love that :)

I love her picture of you and her! I know that has to be a relief for you to know that Anna will have the same teachers for preK. Now come on Natalie, you know that office work requires lots of lunches with the co-workers :)

I wish that's all office life composed of.....

Her picture of you guys is so cute. Glad you got a picture of it before she erased it.

Great week. Love the drawing of you and Anna. Must be fun to eat at the office all day! Crumpet loves water too, but I couldn't get him to go to the swim classes I signed him up for. Sigh, maybe next year... Congrats on the yard sale.

Love Anna's idea of work being a life of constantly having lunch! I am glad to hear Anna now takes a shower as my daughter is very afraid right now so I am hoping she grows out of it soon too. Enjoy the pool - lovely picture of Anna playing. We will no doubt be in the pool again later, having managed to avoid it for two whole afternoons :-)

I love Anna's drawing of the two of you! I think it's so funny that she just thinks you eat all day at the office. I can tell Anna loves the pool just from that picture =)

My little monkey is the same way with books. She will sit in her princess chair, which is by her bookcase, and go through each one. Of course, they end up all over the floor, which is a huge headache for me...she can't get them back on the shelves quite right just yet.
I wish our pool was clean right now. That water in the picture of her is so pretty and looks very relaxing.
