We Play With Legos

We Play

May12_Castle1Even before Anna was born, my husband joked that she’d better like Legos or he will disown her. He is a huge Lego fan and claims that one can build anything out of Lego. Luckily, Anna inherited papa’s interest and enjoys building her own creations out of Lego. She also loves it when he builds something special for her like this castle. She “improved” on his design by adding May12_Castle2 some of her own elements, especially in the “Great Hall” area which is now full of tables, chairs. She also added more watch towers and stacked a lot of “food trunks” around the castle so people have something to eat if the bad guys come. I love to watch her help papa make complex structures and then create her own world in independent play. And when the castle lost its novelty, I am going to challenge husband to build an Egyptian pyramid next :)

Come over and pay at Childhood 101.

I brought the Legos out this week and the kids have been playing with them constantly. Hopefully, they will remember to pick them up so I don't step on them!

My husband was only recently willing to give up his childhood legos to the children.

Great castle!

Kiddo never got into legos. I think he plays with them at school, but at home he just uses single legos as platforms for his train tracks. Maybe New Kid will like them.

What a cool castle! I love legos and grew up playing with them. My husband never did (I think his mom didn't like all the little pieces).

JC just got legos for her birthday and she's loving them! So far, she's been making different kinds of dinosaurs with them. No surprise since we just visited the Dino exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.

Love the castle!

My kids don't build big huge things with their legos, but man do they build with them. Their current thing is to build spaceships for the bad guys.
And my kids would also keep food trunks around to make sure there's food if bad guys come.

I think I'll have to add a Lego set to TB's birthday list. Maybe a trip to the Lego store is in order.

Amazing houses :) My kids love lego too, though they always make space ships at the moment!

I think it is a little funny how Selena will spend hours playing with all sorts of toys, yet now that the newness of her legos has worn off, she could care less about them. Anna loves her legos, yet doesn't play for hours like Selena does. Their little minds sure are developing in different ways!

When I was growing up we had a massive box of lego which someone had kindly donated to us. We (I was one of four) loved playing with it. My Mum and Dad still have that box and I look forward to the day we bring it out for Immy to play with. Lots of happy memories here for me :)

Firstly: I love how open-ended Lego is. Your husband is right, it can be anything! Secondly: after reading this post I suddenly remembered in unbelievable detail a Lego set I had as a kid (a hair salon). I've been googling it all day and found it some images of it. Just looking at the picture of it took me back to my childhood. So thank you!
