The Art Box – Week of Jan 10, 2009

Jan13_ArtBox I thought that the art box this week is not going to happen, but as long as I put something new into “make it” box, Anna was happy to try it out. Here is what we had:

  • Paint by numbers canvas picture – Anna was not interested in “by numbers” part, but enjoyed color mixing and painting.
  • Stamps – very quickly lost interest
  • Coloring wood with wood markers – Jan13_ArtBox1 unexpectedly focused – spent longest on this activity
  • Foam and construction paper – for shredding into “cake”
  • Paint with water Care Bears book – based on Nicole’s reviews I expected a bit more enthusiasm, but Anna was kind of lukewarm about it.
  • Pipecleaners and beads – very popular this week. Practically every favorite stuffed animal in the house has a necklace, but Anna makes sure they are locked up in her “jewelry box”.

that's really cute, pipecleaners and beads necklaces for her stuffed animals :)

It's funny how some kids love some things and others don't - my kids love rubber stamps. The wood markers sound like fun. My kids like to "paint" wood blocks with water, so they would probably enjoy using proper markers even more.

Isn't it funny how different they are?? M still longs (seriously, LONGS) for more paint with water books, he could do that all day. I am interested in the wood markers - I've never heard of them! And it's so cute how Anna makes jewelry for her animals. So sweet!

I enjoy your art box posts and seeing what Anna's likes and dislikes are.
