I really like to look at other toy reviews in The Toys My Child Actually Plays With weekly feature at My Bilingual Boys. One toy that didn’t quite make my top 5, but is well appreciated is our train set. We have two different sets – one is from Target and one is from IKEA. My husband has built a working wooden traffic light for Anna and a tunnel that you can see in the picture. The train is about our only exception to “no toys with batteries” rule – Anna is so much more excited about her railroad since we got this battery-operated train for her. When she is in a mood for some train rides, she builds her own tracks (usually a simple round one like this one) and plays with her trains for a while. My husband has a train station on the list of things that he plans to make for her next :)

We have the same train set from IKEA and we love it. When D was two we bought one set and added another when he was three to make it a little more complicated. They do not have any fancy pieces but I like that. My friend bought the Tomas the Train set and her son loves it but it was MUCH more expensive and Diego doesn't even know who Tomas is. Thanks for mentioning my Toy post. :)

Selena likes her Fisher Price Train, it isn't on a track but she has loved pushing it through the house, and we love to find surfaces that it will travel on it's own.

All three of my children have enjoyed trains. The girls will still play with them when Wes is playing. They like playing with the big set at Barnes and Noble.

So impressed your husband is going to make a train station. That is super cool.
My kiddos go in spurts with the trains, of course every time I put away the trains thinking they've stopped playing with them, they get them out again. So, go figure.

My son is getting a bunch of Geotrax stuff my parents got from a garage sale for Christmas. I have not seen it yet so do not know what it consists of! I am trying to decide if I can get away with just Geotrax and not the big Little People sets. IE can the Geotrax do what Little People would or does he need the other types of scenery as well?

I think that you linked up your train post again instead of the Lego post. :) I did read your Lego post and I have to agree that they are wonderful toys. D is in love with them right now. You are entered with multiple entries for your past posts for the Amazon card.
