Nov3_Tangrams_SM

My husband made a tangram out of the foam with magnetic backing long before we met. It was always hanging on our fridge and became practically a house decor. Lately Anna started to play with it and build things of her own. From time to time I give her a pattern to build that I print out from here. For now I am printing out the solution puzzles – the one that already explains how the puzzle fits together. After building on top of the solution printout, she got adventurous and started building her bridge next to the printout trying to reproduce it. I find tangrams quite a difficult exercise for my geometrically-challenged mind, but I hope that Anna will love them and other logical puzzles since early days and will enjoy them when she is older.

What a great idea to use them as magnets. And, i love how they're always available to Anna.

I think I have sets of tangrams from my teaching days.... Must go dig them up!

That is a great idea. We used them with our set from Melissa and Doug and some I found online. I have made some patterns before for the boys on Dinosaurs. I have not made any patterns recently but I think I should. Thank you for posting this!

I love tangrams! I need to work on letting the kids use them more though, I keep worrying they'll lose the pieces.

I made some using foam too, but I put them away and now need to go figure out where exactly I put them! Seeing your post reminded me I had them. Thanks!
