Oct19_BlackWhite_1

After several weeks of being in a good mood Anna suddenly crashed badly on the afternoon of her birthday. She doesn’t seem to be sick, but it looks like she is a little overwhelmed with her new status of a three year old and maybe she expected something magical to happen on this day, which, of course, didn’t happen. She became whiny, clingy and grumpy. She didn’t even want to Oct19_BlackWhite_2 open all her presents and just wanted to be held. So I suggested to make a project instead. Anna was excited to use a white crayon on black paper – something that she didn’t do before. She had one side covered with squiggles in no time while asking all the time what we are going to make. My idea was ghosts on a moon night. But Anna decided that she wants a white sun instead, and then she was content to just try how different paint looks like on the black paper. She actually ended up color mixing for a while, but the true enthusiasm or focus just wasn’t there on that day. Oh well, maybe we will have more luck with open-ended art next week. I love that Anna's kitty is in so many pictures with her - she must carry it everywhere!

Hope Anna starts to enjoy being three soon! We definitely have whiny days with our 3yo...

It sounds like this was a nice diversion for her.

We have moments like that in our house too. C had a really hard time turning five; he even cried. I think it had everything to do with the fact that five = Kindergarten and he was nervous about going to school.

I had a day like that today with my Mouse! She was whiny and grumpy all day, I know how you are feeling! I hope she feels better tomorrow. She did a great job with the art!

I am sorry to hear that Anna is grumpy, after her birthday. I do like the way she always makes sure to incorporate herself into her art work!

I think birthdays are hard when they're this little because they keep thinking they're going to suddenly be bigger and don't understand it doesn't work that way.

At least she stuck with it!

We have plenty of days like this in our home--PLENTY!!

I hope three goes well for you, but I'll tell you, and I'm not trying to "rain on anyone's parade", three has been the "terrible" age in our home for Hanna and Joe, not two! Good luck, and I mean it:-).

I am actually hoping for "terrible three's" instead of "two's" with Jack. There's no way I want "terrible two's" at the same time as a newborn:-)!

I can totally relate to this experience. It's good that your are flexible ~ makes it much easier. No need to sweat the small stuff.

Thanks so much for linking up! I did fix the title.
