I am very excited about the new linky at A Mommy’s Adventures blog called StArt. I am cheating a little this week, because I am presenting a project that we’ve done for Open-Ended Art festival. It was Elmer, the patchwork elephant. Anna loves these stories, and every week I pick up a new one from the library. The story line is simple, and there is precious little conflict. My gentle toddler is not a big fan of the books that have conflict in it, but… I digress.

Sep8_Elmer4_SM We are not great at combining an art and a story into one unless it’s dramatic reenactment. Anna loves her puppet theater, and I hope that she will have more and more characters in it. Right now she has paper stick puppets, but as she get older, we will probably add paper bag and eventually hand puppets to our collection. Unfortunately, this Elmer turned out to be too big for our current theater, so hopefully I can convince Anna to make another one that fits better. For detailed description and pattern for Elmer, see my post here.

I just think this is so great. And, I am really motivated to do more arts/crafts related to the STORIES we're reading. I think my problem is that we read SO many books a day that I get a little overwhelmed with the possibilities (if that makes sense).

Anyway, thanks for sharing this! I love it! :)
