I am happy to report that the first day yesterday went well. Anna was moderately optimistic in the morning and kept reminding herself that “big David” and “big Alex” will not be there, and that she will have new friends. She was excited to see a fish tank in the classroom and gravitated to the play kitchen afterwards. Then she remembered that we are still there and came back for a hug and a kiss. When my husband came to pick her up, she was surrounded by a group of kids and busy “reading” a book to them. She said excitedly that she has new friends and that she wants to come back again. The teachers said that she was sad for a little bit in the middle, but was easily distracted and soon happy again. I felt the change by her pretend games in the afternoon. In New Jersey she kept playing a scenario where her kitty goes to school and cries for her to pick him up. Yesterday she played a scenario when kitty goes to school happily, gives her a hug and a kiss, and has fun with his friends. I only hope that this positive change will stick, and she will have an enjoyable preschool experience from this point on.

Ohhh, that is SUCH great news!! I hope that the positivity and excitement continues.

And, how cute that she was reading to her new friends. Such a very smart girl!!

I've always been on the fence about sending Maddie to preschool (financially, thinking we could do it at home), but I think those social experiences would be important for her. I sometimes worry about the way she socializes (or, lack thereof).

Anyway, I love how you incorporate preschool as well as SUCH amazing learning at home. Definitely a great model for me.

I am so glad Anna seems to like her preschool. I loved how her pretend game turned around in such a positive manner. I've toid with sending Selena to preschool but when I priced them around here we realized that $90.00 a month was not in our budget.

That's great that Anna is enjoying her new preschool, I hope she continues to enjoy her time there! I love the way art imitates life in her pretend play.

This is wonderful!! I so hope this is just the beginning of a very happy Anna at school, which translates to a very happy, worry free mommy!! I all too well remember dropping Hanna off at preschool for a solid year where she would cry for almost two hours--they would call me and I could hear her! Awful, stomach was in knots. Once I found a great preschool it was a whole different world for her.

Good luck this entire week and weeks to come--can't wait to hear all about it!
